The menu app that refuses to say “safe”.
Pregustà is an iPhone app that turns any restaurant menu into photos and plain-English descriptions, with flags for food allergies and for halal, kosher, Hindu and Jain diners. It is made by Biscayne Studio and launches on the App Store in the United States on 19 November 2026.
The story
Translation apps can turn a menu into English and still leave you with “husband and wife lung pieces”. Pregustà shows you the dish instead: point the camera at a menu, or scan its QR code, and every dish comes back with a picture, a description, and how to say its name.
For diners who read every menu three times, it does something most apps in the category don’t. It never gives a dish a “halal” or “gluten-free” checkmark that a menu can’t prove. It flags what it finds. When it finds nothing it says so, tells you to ask your server anyway, and puts the question on screen to show the kitchen.
“A menu can’t prove a dish is safe, and an app that pretends it can is worse than no app. Pregustà only ever removes a claim. It never makes one.”
